Zwangsstörung (OCD)

The essential features of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) are recurrent obsessions (e.g., persistent ideas, thoughts, impulses, or images that cause marked anxiety or distress) and compulsions or repetitive behaviors (e.g., hand washing, ordering, checking, counting, or repeating words used to prevent or reduce anxiety or distress). The obsessions and compulsions are time-consuming (take more than one hour per day) and significantly interfere with the individual’s normal routine, job functioning, usual social activities and/or relationships with others. OCD does not include habits like biting nails or negative thoughts.
